Magnolia Girl - A Work in Progress
My first "letter to the editor" was published February 10, 1981, in my hometown Alabama newspaper, The Anniston Star.
It's likely that I was spouting off even before that, holding a "fat" pencil between my fingers and writing , "I don't think recess should be cut by ten minutes and here's why."
My second grade teacher wrote on my report card that I was a "joy to teach", but tended to "talk too much." Hmmm, what exactly was TOO much?
This site offers a sampling of essays I've written. I also have a page on my "work - in -progress" book about my mother and me. I like what Muriel Ruykeyser said that "When a woman tells the truth of her life, the world opens up". And when Flannery O'Connor wrote "I don't know what I think until I read what I say". Nothing better sums me up on most days.
My hope is that somewhere on these pages, you'll learn something new, or have a laugh, or think about something in a different way.
Thanks for stopping by.

P.S. Please take a look at my photographs, too. Capturing beautiful, funny, joyous and unexpected moments is also a passion of mine.
